

Chapter 1, part 1Wood struck wood. Two men circled each other, one old one young but both moved with a liquid grace. The younger man lunged forwards only to have his opponent easily step to the side. He brought the hilt of his practise sword down heavily upon the side of the youths head. The man reeled back stunned but was quickly back on the offensive, this time with more careful swings of the blade. Each strike was met with the old mans sword. Sweat now covered both their brows. Suddenly the old man began attacking rather than defending. A furious series of blows that the youth could only just block until he was backed into the corner of the ring. New prologueThe moon gleamed in the cloudless sky. Shafts of light illuminated the deserted corridor. Lianas crept in through the paneless windows. The castle had long since been abandoned. Alone in the dense forest the castle stood as a testament to those who thought to defy the gods. Condemned by the very beings it once tried to conquer; it now remained forgotten and crumbling, used only in stories to scare children. People said it was cursed and that supernatural creatures haunted its passageways in the dead of night. Its cursed occupants that had not escaped the wrath of the gods and now were doomed to wander forever, never ageing, never dying and alNew prologue


finished chapter 1 + prologueThe sun blazed in the sky. The figure raised his cloak to look around the bustling city. Merchants cried their prices from the street sides. The sound of people’s voices only just drowned out the noise of the livestock for sale. The streets were packed, even horses were only going slightly faster than a person yet the stranger seemed to have no trouble picking his way through the streets. He gave off such sense of dread that only the bravest or most foolhardy would dare approach him. Not even the intense midday heat could make him remove the heavy fur cloak from his shoulders.
